Southwest Vacation Feb23 - Valley of Fire State Park
White Domes Loop Trail

After a five minute drive we were at the trail head for the White Domes Loop Trail.  It's a short 1.1 mile loop and features a slot canyon.

Soon we were on the trail again.

The hike was basically downhill to the remains of an old movie set and the slot canyon and then back uphill to the trailhead.

Lots of red rock.

Very red.

In the clearing are the remains of an old movie set for "The Professionals", filmed in 1966.  I've never seen it although it did have a lot of big names:  Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster, Robert Ryan, Jack Palance and Ralph Bellamy.

A couple of timbers sticking out of an adobe-brick wall is all that's left.

Lynnette about to enter the slot canyon.

This is it!

Emerging from the slot canyon we saw this.

Now heading uphill.

More pastel-colored rock.

We emerged to the side of a scrub-brush flat area.

We were skirting the base of this very large rock.

High desert straight ahead.

Departing the White Dome area.
